SHRINE

This photo launched Jennie's interest in photography. While touring Greece, she strolled down a village lane in the late afternoon and came upon this shrine by the roadside.

Intrigued with the devotion the shrine represented, the fresh flowers in the vase, and the lamp, and wondering who the shrine might be dedicated to, or why this site--she shot the picture.

A year later this picture graced the cover of a literary journal in Toronto. Since then, it has won awards in photography exhibits.

It cost Jennie money. With its success, Jennie began to take photography classes, she bought a finer camera, and it never ends.

These two friends made the cover of Kids Count 2001, the data book distributed by Voices for Alabama's Children, a statewide organization advocating for all children in Alabama.

And since 2001, Voices has used the picture on promotional materials.

Jennie served as president of Voices for two terms and was on its board prior to that.
